The jpg files have a white background. The png files have a transparent background. They can be used in PowerPoint slideshows with backgrounds other than white. For more information about the image files, see bottom of this page.

Raster File Format: (jpg, png, gif) use a grid of pixels and do not scale up without losing quality. They can be used for print, web or on screen (video or slideshow).
Vector File Format: (eps) files are based on mathematics, using lines, curves and shapes (vectors) and can scale up. Eps (Encapsulated PostScript) files display smoothly at any size. They are used in print, not for web graphics.
Color and Transparency:
- GIF - only 256 colors. Most of the time we use the alpha channel (transparent background). Used for logos with few colors.
- PNG - 24 bit or 16 million colors. We use the available alpha channel (transparent background).
- JPG - 24 bit or 16 million colors. No transparency.
Image Size/Pixel Dimensions: This refers to the number of pixels (usually width for files on this page).
- Small to Med (500 or less pixels): For use on the web or on screen (video or slideshow), or if you need a small image for print.
- Large (1000 or more pixels): For use for print.
Note: If you need a different image size, contact us. File size: Refers to the number of bytes (or how much room the file uses on your computer or storage device.)
File size increases with the number of pixels. The more pixels, the larger the file. For fast loading on the web, you will want small files sizes and less pixel count. For print, you will want higher pixel count or may want to use a vector (eps) file.
